Sunshine Biopharma launches generic Zofran in Canada

Sunshine Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: SBFM) has launched generic Ondansetron tablets in Canada, available in 4mg and 8mg strengths. Ondansetron is the generic equivalent of the brand-name drug Zofran and is prescribed to treat nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

The company will distribute the product through its wholly owned Canadian subsidiary, Nora Pharma Inc. Ondansetron is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that works by blocking chemicals in the body that trigger nausea and vomiting.

According to data firm DataIntelo, the global Ondansetron market was valued at $1.82 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $2.98 billion by 2034, at a compound annual growth rate of 5.6%.

Sunshine Biopharma currently markets 61 generic prescription drugs in Canada and expects to launch approximately 11 additional drugs before the end of 2026, according to the company's press release.
