Strategy Inc (NASDAQ: MSTR) announced it has joined the Open Semantic Interchange, an open-source initiative led by Snowflake to create vendor-neutral standards for semantic metadata exchange.

The OSI initiative aims to develop a common specification for semantic metadata in a standard format to facilitate data exchange across business intelligence, data governance, data engineering, artificial intelligence, financial services, and manufacturing sectors.

Strategy brings its AI-powered Universal Semantic Layer technology, called Strategy Mosaic, to the collaboration. The company reports having over 30 years of experience in semantic layer technology with thousands of enterprise customer deployments.

"We've always believed that a semantic layer is central to ensuring businesses can innovate with data, while providing trust and governance across all data sources," said Saurabh Abhyankar, Chief Product Officer at Strategy.

The initiative seeks to reduce complexity in data operations and enable organizations to unify data definitions for improved analysis and AI application development. Josh Klahr, Director of Analytics Product Management at Snowflake, stated the collaboration establishes "a unified, vendor-neutral standard for semantic data."

Strategy Inc, formerly known as MicroStrategy, describes itself as an enterprise analytics company and Bitcoin treasury company. The company has adopted Bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset while continuing to provide AI-powered enterprise analytics software.

The announcement comes as part of Strategy's broader open ecosystem strategy centered on its semantic layer technology platform.
