Square and OpenTable announced an expanded preferred partnership that connects reservation, payment, and guest data into a unified view for restaurant operators, building on a point-of-sale integration that began in 2022.
The integration links OpenTable's guest data — including booking history, dining preferences, and special occasion dates — with Square's transaction data, such as order details, spending, and payment method. Restaurants that opt in can access unified guest profiles, connect reservations to revenue metrics, and use the combined data to support loyalty and marketing efforts.
"Reservations, payments, and guest data shouldn't be different systems that restaurant operators have to stitch together themselves," said James Schonzeit, Head of Food and Beverage at Square. "By providing a cohesive view of guest and transaction data, Square and OpenTable are removing the manual work of piecing together who a guest is."
Robin Chiang, Chief Growth Officer at OpenTable, said the partnership enables technology that "interacts seamlessly to deliver insights that power hospitality."
The partnership is available to restaurants in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, Ireland, and France. OpenTable is a subsidiary of Booking Holdings (NASDAQ: BKNG) and serves more than 70,000 restaurants worldwide. Square is a product of Block, Inc.
According to the companies, future development will focus on faster onboarding, reservation workflows, guest intelligence across ordering channels, and deeper loyalty and payment integrations.
