Raytheon completes $50M expansion of Mississippi facility

Raytheon, a business unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), has completed a 17,000 square-foot expansion of its Forest, Mississippi manufacturing facility, backed by a $50 million capital investment.

The expanded site will support production, testing, and integration of Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band pods for the U.S. Navy and the Australian government, as well as other airborne radar programs. The facility now totals 445,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The expansion is expected to create 100 jobs by 2028. Over the past decade, Raytheon has completed three expansions at the Forest site totaling $280 million in capital investment, including a 20,000 square-foot addition in 2013 and a 50,000 square-foot radar production and testing facility completed in 2020.

Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon, said the completion "underscores our long-term commitment to Forest and the state of Mississippi," adding that the company is working with state and local partners to build workforce and infrastructure capabilities.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves and U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, both commented on the project's role in job creation and national defense manufacturing.

Raytheon has maintained a presence in the Forest community for 40 years, according to the company.
