Jacobs (NYSE: J) announced the launch of Flood Platform, a cloud-hosted software-as-a-service offering designed for flood modeling and infrastructure planning. The Dallas-based company made the announcement on October 9.

The platform integrates with Jacobs' existing Flood Modeller software and operates on Microsoft Azure's technology. It allows users to upload data, manage access permissions, perform analysis, and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Jacobs developed the platform for internal use over 15 years ago and has now made it available as a subscription service to organizations worldwide. The company cited increasing frequency and severity of flooding and extreme weather events as driving demand for such tools.

"At Jacobs, we integrate digital, data and AI capabilities throughout our global delivery portfolio to solve complex client challenges," said Amer Battikhi, executive vice president at Jacobs. "Flood Platform demonstrates how cloud-based technology and automation can improve infrastructure planning and modeling."

The platform has supported projects including Melbourne Water's Flood Mapping Program for Greater Melbourne and the Westernport region, and the Environment Agency's Oxford-Cambridge Arc Flood Risk Investment Study, which the company said helped unlock more than $134 billion in economic value.

Jacobs reported approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and employs almost 45,000 people. The company provides services in advanced manufacturing, cities, energy, environmental, life sciences, transportation and water sectors.
