Greenland Mines backs U.S.-Denmark-Greenland security pact

September 20, 2026 8:47 PM EDT

Greenland Mines Ltd (Nasdaq: GRML) issued a statement supporting a security agreement announced by President Donald Trump involving the United States, Denmark, and Greenland, according to a company press release dated Sept. 18, 2026.

The agreement provides for an expanded U.S. security presence in Greenland and places limits on the ability of adversarial nations to establish military positions or make sensitive investments in the territory.

Bo Møller Stensgaard, president of Greenland Mines, said the announcement "underscores what we have long believed: Greenland is becoming one of the most strategically important regions in the world," adding that the strategic importance "extends to the critical minerals required for defense, advanced technology and energy security."

The company holds two mineral assets in Greenland: the Sarfartoq rare earths project in southwest Greenland and the Skaergaard palladium-platinum-gold and vanadium project in southeast Greenland. The company's initial assessment for Sarfartoq includes a high-case pre-tax net present value of approximately $2.05 billion. The company claims planned annual neodymium-praseodymium oxide production from the site would represent approximately 34% of all such oxide currently refined outside China, based on 2025 consumption levels.

Greenland Mines describes a broader strategy it calls a North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor, which it says would link Greenland's mineral resources with processing and industrial infrastructure in allied nations.
