CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) announced the general availability of FalconID, a multi-factor authentication service integrated into its Falcon platform. The service uses FIDO2-based biometric authentication and requires physical proximity between mobile and authentication devices to approve access.
The company states that FalconID addresses vulnerabilities in traditional MFA systems by incorporating real-time risk signals from the Falcon platform to determine when access should be granted. When risk levels are low, users can authenticate without additional steps, while access automatically adapts when risk conditions change.
"Traditional MFA is architecturally broken. Disconnected from real-time risk signals, it's blind to emerging threats, susceptible to MFA bypass attacks, and creates unnecessary friction," said Elia Zaitsev, chief technology officer at CrowdStrike.
The service is delivered through the Falcon for Mobile app and eliminates the need for passwords, push notifications, or one-time codes. FalconID integrates with CrowdStrike's recent acquisitions of SGNL and Seraphic to provide continuous access evaluation and browser-based authentication.
Key features include device-bound verification, unified architecture without third-party integrations, and integration with Falcon Fusion SOAR for automated response capabilities. The service aims to prevent AI-accelerated phishing attacks and credential abuse at the point of authentication.
CrowdStrike's Falcon Next-Gen Identity Security platform covers human, non-human, and AI agent identities across initial access, privileged access, identity threat detection and response, and SaaS identity security. The information is based on a company press release.
