Assurant acquires OptoFidelity mobile device testing technology

Assurant Inc. (NYSE: AIZ) announced it has acquired the mobile device test automation technology portfolio from OptoFidelity, a provider of optical metrology systems for mobile devices. The acquisition aims to enhance device refurbishment and resale capabilities across Assurant's Device Care Centers.

The acquired technology will enable Assurant to process a greater volume of devices with improved precision and efficiency for the certified pre-owned device market. OptoFidelity's modular systems work with both iOS and Android devices and can adapt to changing production volumes and testing requirements.

"Speed and accuracy are critical in device processing, repair, and refurbishment. With the seamless integration of OptoFidelity's mobile device test automation technology, we can re-purpose a greater volume of devices, with enhanced precision and efficiency, all in-house," said Brandon Johnson, senior vice president of supply chain at Assurant.

OptoFidelity, founded in 2005, has delivered over 9,000 test systems to mobile carriers, manufacturers, and retailers worldwide. The company's technology focuses on precision, repeatability, and traceability in mobile device testing.

Assurant will collaborate with FutureDial, described as the leading customer of the acquired technology, to provide continued support for existing and new clients. The acquisition supports Assurant's automation and robotics expansion across its Device Care Centers.

The company operates as a global protection service provider for connected devices, homes, and automobiles, partnering with brands worldwide. Assurant is a Fortune 500 company operating in 21 countries.
