Allegion plc (NYSE: ALLE) has acquired privately owned Gatewise Incorporated, a software-as-a-service provider of smart access control solutions for multifamily properties in the United States, according to a company announcement.
Founded in 2017 and based in Houston, Texas, Gatewise offers gate entry systems for multifamily communities through a mobile app for residents and a cloud-based management portal for property managers. The company's solutions are designed to work with existing infrastructure and integrate with property management systems.
The acquisition combines Gatewise's perimeter security technology with Allegion's electronic locks and Zentra multifamily access solution. Allegion reported $3.8 billion in revenue in 2024 and manufactures security and access solutions under brands including Schlage, Von Duprin, and LCN.
"This acquisition strengthens Allegion's position as a leader in smart, secure and scalable access solutions, especially for multifamily property owners and their residents," said John H. Stone, Allegion's president and CEO.
Gatewise CEO Amit Sherman will join Allegion to help integrate the businesses and accelerate growth for the combined operations.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
