Agilent launches compact Cary 635 FTIR spectrometer

Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) has launched the Cary 635 FTIR spectrometer, a compact Fourier transform infrared analysis instrument aimed at laboratory use across multiple industries.

According to a company statement, the Cary 635 is designed to occupy minimal bench space and can be repositioned at various points in a laboratory workflow. The instrument uses solid zinc selenide optical components intended to improve moisture resistance, and features permanently aligned optics to allow rapid interchange of sampling modules for analysis of solids, liquids, powders, and gases.

The spectrometer includes a nondynamic interferometer, which Agilent says requires minimal maintenance. An optional DialPath module is available for liquid transmission measurements, including viscous samples, and is designed to reduce sample volume requirements and eliminate certain consumables.

The instrument ships with Agilent MicroLab software, which features step-by-step, picture-guided workflows and color-coded results reporting.

"Laboratories are under increasing pressure to deliver reliable results while maximizing efficiency and laboratory resources," said Geoff Winkett, vice president and general manager of the Spectroscopy Solutions Division at Agilent. "The Cary 635 FTIR was designed to help address those challenges by combining powerful analytical performance in a compact footprint with the flexibility and intuitive operation needed to support a wide range of users and applications."

Agilent reported revenue of $6.95 billion in fiscal year 2025 and employs approximately 18,000 people worldwide.
