Local 9-1-1 Dispatchers Honored by Indiana Fever and WeShare Health

Organizations team up to honor the often-unseen first responders who ‘answer the call’ year-round

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Indiana Fever and WeShare Health, a nonprofit healthcare sharing organization built to make healthcare simpler, more affordable, and more human, recognized over 40 members of the Metropolitan Emergency Services Agency (MESA) for their tireless work coordinating emergency responses across Indianapolis, including during the region’s flooding emergencies in August. The event comes just ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, an opportunity to reflect on the courage and dedication of first responders.

On Sept. 9, the Fever and WeShare Health coordinated a surprise event for over 40 emergency dispatch team members, which included:

• A dinner catered by St. Elmo Steakhouse
• A visit from Kelsey Mitchell, starting guard for the Indiana Fever and back-to-back Eastern Conference Player of the Month, and mascot Freddy Fever
• Gifting of Kelsey Mitchell jerseys, signed by Mitchell in person
• Additional giveaways including Indiana Fever ticket packages and merchandise

Playing an often unnoticed but crucial role, the MESA dispatch team fields 911 calls and coordinates with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Indianapolis Fire Department, EMTs, and other response teams to ensure community members get the help they need.
