Fort Worth Business Journal Newsroom Takes Shape

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Fort Worth Business Journal has hired two additional editorial team members ahead of its October launch, positioning itself as the source of trusted business news for the nation's 10th-largest city.

Both will be based in Fort Worth, meeting frequently with local business and civic leaders.

Julia Masters will assume the role of editorial team lead, editing and reporting on important issues in Fort Worth and surrounding cities. Samantha Thornfelt joins as a reporter focused on residential real estate and retail.

Prior to joining the Fort Worth Business Journal, Masters was senior reporter at the Nashville Business Journal, a sister publication of owner American City Business Journals. She joined the Nashville team in 2022 and has a degree in journalism and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“Julia is a journalist who doesn’t simply report on her community; she becomes part of it,” said Rob Daumeyer, vice president of news and content for American City Business Journals. “That connectedness can be felt in everything she writes. Thornfelt, a Texas native, was previously a freelance reporter for publications such as the Dallas Observer and Dallas Morning News. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in journalism from the University of North Texas.

“Samantha will be a familiar face to many, and her knowledge of the metro area is a huge boon for subscribers,” Daumeyer said. “Her photography and multimedia skills will allow the newsroom to report in visually engaging ways that paint outside the lines of traditional business reporting.”

Masters and Thornfelt join Senior Reporter Seth Bodine, who will cover commercial real estate and build on his extensive knowledge of the Fort Worth community. Bodine has covered Greater Fort Worth for more than two years at the Dallas Business Journal.
