State adoption affirms Florida math curriculum’s rigor and alignment with B.E.S.T. Standards

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Carnegie Learning, a global leader in research-driven technology, curriculum, and professional learning solutions for K-12 education, announced today that the Florida Department of Education has approved Florida ClearMath Secondary for statewide mathematics instructional materials adoption. All courses are approved, including, Grades 6–8, accelerated middle school mathematics, and high school mathematics.

The Florida middle and high school math curriculum is aligned to the state’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards and Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning Standards (MTRs).

Districts across Florida can begin adopting Florida ClearMath Secondary starting in the 2027-2028 school year.

“Florida educators deserve mathematics resources that reflect the state’s high standards while helping every student see themselves as capable mathematical thinkers,” said Barry Malkin, CEO of Carnegie Learning. “This approval affirms the quality, rigor, and thoughtful design of Florida ClearMath Secondary. We look forward to partnering with districts across the state to create meaningful learning experiences and stronger outcomes for Florida students.”

Florida ClearMath Secondary combines collaborative classroom learning with personalized, 1-to-1 coaching. Students build conceptual understanding through problem-solving, mathematical discourse, and real-world applications in MATHbook, while MATHia® provides individualized practice and just-in-time support based on each student’s needs.

The curriculum was developed specifically for Florida classrooms, with the state’s B.E.S.T. Standards and seven MTRs woven throughout every lesson rather than bolted on as a separate component. Reasoning, collaboration, problem-solving, and student thinking at the center of instruction.

Key features include:

  • Standards-aligned print and digital instructional materials developed for Florida
  • Collaborative learning experiences that encourage mathematical discourse and productive struggle
  • Personalized, 1:1 coaching through MATHia
  • Accelerated pathways that preserve conceptual depth while supporting advanced learners
  • Editable lesson slides, assessments, and ready-to-use planning resources
  • Real-time student data that helps educators identify learning needs and provide targeted support
  • Professional learning and implementation services for teachers, schools, and districts

“Our goal was to build more than instructional resources that simply check the boxes for standards alignment,” said Amy Jones Lewis, Chief Mathematics Officer. “Florida ClearMath Secondary helps students develop deep, lasting mathematical understanding while giving teachers the support they need to make strong instructional decisions. Students have meaningful opportunities to reason, solve problems, collaborate, and communicate their thinking, and teachers have the tools to respond to what students understand and what they need next.”
