vTv Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: VTVT) announced the appointment of four medical experts to its Scientific Advisory Board as the company advances Phase 3 clinical trials for its type 1 diabetes treatment candidate.
The biopharmaceutical company added Alfonso Galderisi, MD, PhD, Mark Evans, MD, Chantal Mathieu, MD, PhD, and Klara Klein, MD, PhD, to the advisory board. The board provides guidance on the clinical development of cadisegliatin, an oral therapy being tested as an adjunctive treatment to insulin for type 1 diabetes.
Galderisi serves as an Associate Professor at Yale University specializing in metabolic physiology of preclinical type 1 diabetes. Evans is a Professor of Diabetic Medicine at the University of Cambridge known for hypoglycemia research. Mathieu holds a professorship at the University of Leuven, Belgium, and Klein is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who serves as a Principal Investigator for multiple vTv clinical trials.
The advisory board also includes existing members John Buse, MD, PhD, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Alexander Fleming, MD, Executive Chairman of Kinexum and former FDA official responsible for diabetes therapeutic reviews.
"Their collective experience in diabetes care, clinical research, and regulatory engagement will be invaluable as we advance cadisegliatin," said Paul Sekhri, Chairman, President, and CEO of vTv Therapeutics.
Cadisegliatin is a liver-selective glucokinase activator designed to improve glycemic control through hepatic glucose uptake and glycogen storage. The company describes it as a potential first-in-class oral adjunctive treatment for type 1 diabetes patients using insulin.
The advisory board will provide input on clinical trial planning, study design, endpoints, regulatory strategy, and target product profile development for the experimental drug.
