bioAffinity Technologies expands medical advisory board
bioAffinity Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: BIAF; BIAFW) announced the appointment of three pulmonary medicine specialists to its Medical and Scientific Advisory Board. The company added David Ost, MD, MPH, from University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Daniel Sterman, MD, from New York University Langone Medical Center, and J. Scott Ferguson, MD, from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
The appointments are part of a planned expansion to align with the company's clinical and commercial priorities, including integration of its CyPath Lung diagnostic test for lung cancer detection. The noninvasive test is designed to identify lung cancer in patients with indeterminate pulmonary nodules.
Dr. Ost serves as Professor of Medicine and Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Sterman is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at NYU Langone Health, with research in gene therapy and immunotherapy for lung cancer. Dr. Ferguson is Professor of Medicine and Director of Interventional Pulmonology at the University of Wisconsin, specializing in advanced diagnostic techniques for lung cancer.
The three doctors join existing board members including David Hill, MD, Chair of the American Lung Association Board of Directors, and other specialists in pulmonary medicine and lung health.
CyPath Lung uses flow cytometry and artificial intelligence to analyze patient sputum samples. Clinical study results showed 92% sensitivity, 87% specificity and 88% accuracy in detecting lung cancer in high-risk patients with small lung nodules less than 20 millimeters. The test is marketed as a Laboratory Developed Test by Precision Pathology Laboratory Services, a subsidiary of bioAffinity Technologies.
