Zymeworks Inc. (NASDAQ: ZYME) announced the appointment of Greg Ciongoli and Robert E. Landry to its board of directors, effective August 10. Both new directors were also appointed to the audit committee.
Ciongoli is the founder and managing partner of Adiumentum Capital Management, an investment firm focused on capital structure optimization. He previously spent over 16 years at The Baupost Group as a partner, leading investments across multiple industries with extensive healthcare investment experience. He currently serves on the board of Atara Biotherapeutics and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Landry brings more than 30 years of financial leadership experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. He most recently served as chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. Prior to Regeneron, he held senior financial roles at Wyeth and Pfizer Inc., including senior vice president and treasurer at Pfizer. He currently serves on boards of GanD Inc. and Cytokinetics Incorporated.
The appointments follow the departure of Troy Cox, who served on Zymeworks' board since 2019. Kenneth Galbraith, chair and chief executive officer of Zymeworks, stated that the new directors bring financial and strategic leadership expertise as the company advances its development programs.
Zymeworks is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing biotherapeutics for cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases. The company's zanidatamab has received accelerated approval from the U.S. FDA, conditional approval from China's NMPA, and conditional marketing authorization from the European Commission for treating HER2-positive biliary tract cancer.
