Tempest Therapeutics names Nancy Freda-Smith to its board

Tempest Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: TPST), a clinical-stage biotechnology company, has appointed Nancy Freda-Smith to its board of directors, where she will also serve as Chair of the Audit Committee, according to a press release.

Freda-Smith brings more than 30 years of experience in corporate governance, financial reporting, enterprise risk management, and regulatory compliance. She most recently served as Chief Audit and Risk Officer at Ralph Lauren, where she oversaw internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, enterprise risk management, asset protection, and cybersecurity resilience across operations in more than 30 countries, covering more than $7 billion in revenue.

Previously, she served as an Independent Director and Audit Committee Member of Chuy's Holdings, providing oversight during its acquisition by Darden Restaurants. Earlier in her career, she was a Managing Director at Deloitte & Touche LLP, advising Fortune 500 companies on SEC reporting, capital markets transactions, and complex U.S. GAAP and IFRS matters, including clients in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector.

Freda-Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Boston College and holds certifications as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.

Tempest is developing in vivo CAR-T therapies for cancer and autoimmune disease. Its lead product candidate, TPST-4003, targets CD19/BCMA with a CD7-targeting delivery system.
