Stoke Therapeutics adds Bo Cumbo to its board of directors

Stoke Therapeutics (Nasdaq: STOK) has appointed Bo Cumbo to its board of directors, the Bedford, Massachusetts-based biotechnology company announced. Concurrently, Edward Kaye, M.D., retired from his board role. Dr. Kaye had served on the board since 2017 and was the company's chief executive officer from 2017 to March 2025. He will continue to advise the board through the transition.
Mr. Cumbo has more than 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, spanning commercial leadership, medicine launches, and corporate governance. Since 2022, he has served as president, chief executive officer, and director of Solid Biosciences. He previously served as the founding chief executive officer of AavantiBio. Between 2013 and 2020, he held several commercial leadership roles at Sarepta Therapeutics, ultimately serving as chief commercial officer, where he was involved in bringing the first FDA-approved treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy to patients. He has also held roles at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Gilead Sciences, GlaxoSmithKline, and UCB Pharma.
Mr. Cumbo currently serves as a director of Vor Bio and Climb Bio, and previously served as a director of Verve Therapeutics, RA Pharma, and Clinical Supplies Management. He holds a bachelor of science in laboratory technology from Auburn University.
Stoke is developing zorevunersen, an investigational antisense oligonucleotide targeting Dravet syndrome, which is currently in a Phase 3 clinical study. The company stated it is targeting potential FDA approval in early 2028. Stoke has a strategic collaboration with Biogen (Nasdaq: BIIB) to develop and commercialize zorevunersen, under which Stoke retains exclusive rights in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, while Biogen holds exclusive commercialization rights for the rest of the world.
