Sranan Gold appoints mining engineer Ron Halas to board
Sranan Gold Corp. (CSE: SRAN) (OTCQB: SRANF) (FSE: P84) announced the appointment of Ron Halas, P.Eng., as an independent director to its board.
Halas brings 35 years of mining experience spanning mineral evaluation, project development and operations across open-pit and underground mining. He has held senior roles at IAMGOLD, Kinross Gold, Vale, PT Freeport Indonesia, Placer Dome and Cominco.
Halas lived and worked in Suriname for over five years as IAMGOLD's Vice President, Commercial - South America, based in Paramaribo. In that role, he reviewed gold assets across Suriname, including the area encompassing Sranan Gold's Tapanahony Project. He participated in negotiations with the Government of Suriname regarding the acquisition of the Saramacca concession for IAMGOLD's Rosebel Gold Mine.
In recent roles, Halas served as Chief Operating Officer of Global Atomic Corp., where he advanced the Dasa uranium project from preliminary economic assessment stage toward mine development. He also served as Chief Operating Officer of Lumina Gold Corp., leading feasibility-level advancement efforts at the Cangrejos gold-copper project.
"Ron brings deep technical, operational, and transactional experience across the mining lifecycle, along with first-hand knowledge of Suriname and its gold industry," said Oscar Louzada, CEO of Sranan Gold.
The company stated that Halas has no material relationship with Sranan Gold and qualifies as an independent director under applicable securities laws and Canadian Securities Exchange policies.
Sranan Gold is engaged in mineral exploration and acquisition of mineral property assets in Suriname. The company's Tapanahony Project covers 29,000 hectares in Suriname.
