SAIC adds two directors with finance and aviation backgrounds

Science Applications International Corp. (NASDAQ: SAIC) announced the appointment of David Benson and David Cush to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
Both new directors will serve on the Audit Committee. Benson will also join the Human Resources and Compensation Committee, while Cush will serve on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. The additions bring the board to 12 members.
Benson most recently served as President of Fannie Mae from 2018 to 2024, overseeing more than $25 billion in annual revenue and approximately 8,000 employees. During a tenure at Fannie Mae that began in 2002, he held roles including interim CEO, CFO, and Executive Vice President of Capital Markets. Before Fannie Mae, he spent 14 years in leadership positions at Merrill Lynch's institutional fixed income businesses in New York and London. He currently serves on the boards of Essent Group Ltd. and Opendoor Technologies Inc.
Cush served as CEO and board member of Service King Collision from 2018 to 2022. From 2007 to 2016, he was President and CEO of Virgin America, leading the airline through its initial public offering and its subsequent $4 billion acquisition by Alaska Airlines. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at American Airlines spanning two decades and served as chief operating officer of AerolĂneas Argentinas. He has previously served on the boards of Southwest Airlines, Vought Aircraft, and Vive Collision.
Board Chair Donna Morea said in the statement: "Their exceptional track records of leading organizations in value creation, enterprise management, and organizational transformation, will provide valuable perspectives as we continue advancing our customers' critical missions and positioning SAIC for sustained growth."
SAIC, headquartered in Reston, Virginia, reported annual revenues of approximately $7.3 billion and employs approximately 23,000 people.
