QuantumScape adds defense executive Niebergall to board

QuantumScape Corporation (NASDAQ: QS) appointed Ross Niebergall to its board of directors, the solid-state battery technology company announced.



Niebergall brings decades of defense sector experience to the role. He served as President of Aerojet Rocketdyne following its acquisition by L3Harris and held the position of Chief Technology Officer at L3Harris and Harris Corporation from 2017 to 2023. Prior to joining Harris Corporation, he was Vice President of Engineering at Raytheon and served as CEO of ThalesRaytheon Systems LLC, a joint venture between Raytheon Company and the Thales Group.



The executive currently serves on the board of V2X, a defense solutions provider. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame.



"Ross adds a highly complementary skillset to our board," said Dennis Segers, chairman of the QuantumScape board of directors. "He brings decades of experience leading successful technology innovation projects in the defense sector."



Niebergall stated his interest in the company's technology applications. "QS technology has the potential to be a transformative force across many different applications," he said. "I'm excited to join the board and help guide the company through the next stages of its commercialization journey."



QuantumScape develops solid-state lithium-metal battery technology designed for electric vehicles and energy storage applications. The company is based in San Jose, California.
