Lumicell names Cheryl Blanchard to board of directors

Lumicell Inc. appointed Cheryl R. Blanchard to its board of directors, the Newton, Massachusetts-based medical technology company announced February 4.



Blanchard most recently served as president, chief executive officer and director of Anika Therapeutics (NASDAQ: ANIK), where she led commercial strategy implementation. During her tenure at Anika, the company divested non-core assets, commercialized orthopedic and osteoarthritis pain products, and advanced multiple programs through U.S. clinical and regulatory pathways. She will remain on Anika's board as executive chair.



Her previous roles include chief executive officer of Microchips Biotech and senior vice president and chief scientific officer at Zimmer. Blanchard currently serves on boards of several companies including Vigil Neuroscience, Daré Bioscience, SeaSpine Holdings, and Neuronetics.



"Cheryl brings a rare combination of scientific depth, operational rigor, commercial leadership, and board experience—paired with a proven track record of transforming organizations and launching category-defining products," said Andrey J. Zarur, co-founder and chairman of Lumicell's board.



Blanchard is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.



Lumicell develops fluorescence-guided imaging technologies for cancer detection. The company's technology received FDA approval for breast cancer treatment and is being explored for other solid tumor applications.
