Interactive Brokers appoints forecasting expert Tetlock to ForecastEx board

Interactive Brokers Group Inc. (NASDAQ: IBKR) announced the appointment of Dr. Philip Tetlock to the board of directors of ForecastEx, its prediction market subsidiary. The appointment adds expertise in forecasting and decision-making under uncertainty to the platform's governance structure.



Dr. Tetlock serves as the Leonore Annenberg University Professor of Democracy and Citizenship at the University of Pennsylvania, with joint appointments in psychology and management at the School of Arts & Sciences and Wharton School. He authored several books on forecasting, including "Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction."



Thomas Peterffy, founder and chairman of Interactive Brokers, said the appointment strengthens ForecastEx's ability to develop prediction market solutions. "Prediction markets are founded on the uncertainty of the future and the probabilities associated with potential outcomes," Peterffy stated in the announcement.



ForecastEx operates as a CFTC-registered Designated Contract Market and Derivative Clearing Organization for forecast contracts. The platform allows users to trade contracts based on climate change, macroeconomic performance and other events while receiving monthly returns on invested capital.



Eligible clients of Interactive Brokers entities in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong and Singapore have access to forecast contracts through the platform. Product availability varies by affiliate and client location.



Interactive Brokers, a member of the S&P 500, provides automated trade execution and custody services across over 170 markets globally. The company serves individual investors, hedge funds, trading groups and financial advisors through its unified platform.
