Halozyme adds biotech executive Appelhans to its board

Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: HALO) announced the election of Dannielle Appelhans to its Board of Directors, according to a company press release dated Aug. 18, 2026.
Appelhans has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of COUR Pharmaceuticals, a private biotechnology company focused on autoimmune disease therapies, since 2023. During her tenure there, she helped negotiate a strategic collaboration with Genentech valued at up to $1 billion.
Prior to COUR Pharmaceuticals, Appelhans served as Chief Executive Officer of Rubius Therapeutics, Inc., a publicly traded clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. She also held senior roles at Novartis, including Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Novartis Gene Therapies, where she oversaw development, manufacturing, and supply chain operations for the gene therapy unit, including the approved therapy Zolgensma. She previously served on the Board of Directors of Generation Bio Co. and began her career at McKinsey & Company and Eli Lilly and Company.
Appelhans holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan, respectively, as well as an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
