First Merchants Corporation (NASDAQ: FRME) announced that Larry Myers has been appointed to the boards of directors of both First Merchants Corporation and First Merchants Bank. The appointment follows the completion of a merger between First Merchants and First Savings Financial Group on February 1, 2026.
Myers served as president and chief executive officer of First Savings Bank and First Savings Financial Group for nearly 20 years before the merger. The transaction strengthens First Merchants' presence in southern Indiana, according to the company's statement.
Board Chair Jean Wojtowicz said Myers brings extensive banking experience and leadership that will enhance the boards' strategic and governance capabilities. Chief Executive Officer Mark K. Hardwick noted that Myers' perspective as a community bank executive will support the company's growth and operational execution.
During his tenure at First Savings, Myers served as chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association and on the board of the American Bankers Association. He earned a Bachelor of Science and MBA from the University of Kentucky and joined the Federal Home Loan Bank Board of Directors in 2018.
Myers stated he is honored to join the First Merchants boards and looks forward to contributing his expertise as the company builds long-term shareholder value.
First Merchants Corporation operates as a financial holding company headquartered in Muncie, Indiana, with $21.4 billion in assets. The company operates First Merchants Bank and its divisions, including First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors and First Savings Bank.
