Edgewise Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: EWTX) appointed Christopher Martin to its board of directors. The muscle disease biopharmaceutical company announced the appointment of the biotechnology executive on Nov. 20.

Martin previously served as chief commercial officer at Verona Pharma, which Merck & Co. acquired for approximately $10 billion in October 2025. At Verona Pharma, he built the commercial organization and launch strategy for Ohtuvayre (ensifentrine).

Before Verona Pharma, Martin held executive director of marketing position at SK Life Science, where he developed commercial and marketing strategy for XCOPRI (cenobamate tablets). He also served as head of marketing at Cempra, leading development and launch strategy for solithromycin before the company's acquisition by Melinta Therapeutics.

Martin spent 10 years at Salix Pharmaceuticals in roles of increasing responsibility, leading the Xifaxan marketing team during the company's acquisition by Valeant Pharmaceuticals. He holds a bachelor of science degree in financial management from Clemson University.

"His commercial expertise and launch leadership will be critical as we prepare for our first commercial launch in Becker muscular dystrophy and advance our cardiovascular asset to Phase 3," said Kevin Koch, president and chief executive officer of Edgewise Therapeutics.

Edgewise Therapeutics develops therapeutics for muscular dystrophies and cardiac conditions. The company's product pipeline includes sevasemten, currently in late-stage clinical trials for Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies, and EDG-7500, a cardiac sarcomere modulator in Phase 2 development for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
