Celularity names Viome founder Naveen Jain to its board

Celularity Inc. (Nasdaq: CELU), a regenerative medicine company based in Florham Park, N.J., announced that Naveen Jain, founder and chief executive of Viome Life Sciences Inc., will join its board of directors.

Jain's appointment will become effective following completion of the applicable Rule 14f-1 information statement process. Celularity said it expects to announce a fifth board member shortly.

Jain previously founded InfoSpace, Intelius, TalentWise, and Moon Express. At Viome, he applies artificial intelligence and molecular data to personalized health and nutrition.

Robert J. Hariri, M.D., Ph.D., chairman and chief executive of Celularity, said in the statement that Jain "has a track record of pursuing ambitious ideas and building businesses around emerging technologies," and that his perspective would be valuable as the company works to expand the commercial reach of its products.

Jain joins a board that includes Dr. Hariri, Peter H. Diamandis, M.D., and Philip A. Barach, all of whom joined as part of Celularity's recent recapitalization and strategic repositioning. Barach said the company has "made meaningful progress strengthening Celularity's capital structure and operating profile."

Celularity develops and manufactures cell therapies derived from the postpartum placenta. Its portfolio includes cenplacel-L, an investigational placenta-derived allogeneic cell therapy.
