Akari Therapeutics adds RNA biology expert to advisory board

Akari Therapeutics Plc (NASDAQ: AKTX) appointed Olga Anczukow, Ph.D., to its Scientific Advisory Board, according to a company statement.

Anczukow serves as Associate Professor at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine and Co-Program Leader at the NCI-designated Jackson Laboratory Cancer Center. She holds a joint faculty appointment at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where she leads research focused on alternative RNA splicing in cancer.

The appointment supports Akari's development of its PH1 antibody drug conjugate payload, which targets RNA splicing in cancer cells. The company's lead candidate, AKTX-101, targets the Trop2 receptor and uses the PH1 payload designed to disrupt RNA splicing within cancer cells.

Anczukow earned her Ph.D. from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France, focusing on breast cancer genetics including BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. She completed postdoctoral training at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

At The Jackson Laboratory, Anczukow's research integrates genomics, molecular biology, patient-derived organoids, and in vivo models to investigate how cancer cells alter splicing programs. Her work has been published in scientific journals including Nature Reviews Cancer.

Akari has initiated IND enabling studies for AKTX-101 with plans to begin a First-In-Human trial by late 2026 or early 2027. The company is also developing AKTX-102, targeting CEACAM5 using the same PH1 payload technology.
