Werner Enterprises Inc. (NASDAQ: WERN) has placed its first order for Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack systems from Dragonfly Energy Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: DFLI) following a pilot program, according to a company statement.
The lithium-powered systems provide power for hotel loads and driver amenities during rest periods without running the main engine, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Werner Enterprises conducted an extensive real-world trial of the technology before placing the order.
"The Battle Born DualFlow Power Pack delivered on every front during our pilot, providing our drivers with reliable power for cab comfort and driver amenities along with reduced truck starts during breaks," said Chad Dittberner, senior vice president of the One Way Network and Innovation Council Leader at Werner.
The systems are built using lithium iron phosphate technology and are assembled in North America. Dragonfly Energy said the order represents a milestone in its expansion into the heavy-duty trucking market.
"Seeing a respected fleet like Werner Enterprises move from pilot to order is a meaningful validation of our technology," said Wade Seaburg, chief commercial officer at Dragonfly Energy.
Werner Enterprises is described as one of the largest transportation and logistics companies in North America. Dragonfly Energy manufactures Battle Born Batteries and specializes in lithium battery technology, including cell manufacturing and battery pack assembly.
