Walmart to join Nasdaq-100 Index effective January 20

Nasdaq announced that Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ: WMT) will become a component of the Nasdaq-100 Index and related indices beginning January 20, 2026, prior to market open.

Walmart will replace AstraZeneca PLC (NASDAQ: AZN) in the Nasdaq-100 Index, the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index, and the Nasdaq-100 Ex-Tech Sector Index. The change takes effect on the first trading day following the third Friday of the month.

AstraZeneca will also be removed from several other Nasdaq indices including the Nasdaq-100 ESG Index, Nasdaq-100 ex Top 30, and other related indices on the same date. Markets will be closed January 19, 2026, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Nasdaq-100 Index tracks the performance of 100 of the largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market across various industries including technology, retail, healthcare, telecommunications, biotechnology, and media.
