Volato Group, Inc. (NYSE American: SOAR) announced the appointment of Alan D. Gaines to its board of directors, effective immediately. Gaines will serve as chairman of the audit committee, according to a company statement.

Gaines brings over 40 years of experience in investment banking and energy industry leadership to the role. He has participated in more than 200 major transactions, raising over $100 billion in aggregate capital throughout his career.

He currently serves as executive chairman, CEO, and founder of ALG Corp., ALG Media, Inc., Tidal NRG, and Innov8 Gases Corp. Gaines previously co-founded Gaines, Berland Inc., an energy investment bank, and served as chairman of Dune Energy, Inc., where he led a $540 million acquisition.

Earlier in his career, Gaines worked as chief strategic advisor to financier Carl C. Icahn, overseeing investments in energy companies including Gulf Oil, Texaco, Phillips Petroleum, and Marathon Oil.

The appointment comes as Volato pursues a pending merger with M2i Global, Inc. (OTC: MTWO), which focuses on building a supply chain for critical minerals serving U.S. industrial and defense markets.

"His deep experience in complex financial transactions, energy market dynamics, and board governance will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our financial oversight and strategic direction," said Mark Heinen, Volato's chief financial officer.

Gaines holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Baruch College and an MBA in finance from Hofstra University's Zarb School of Business, where he graduated as valedictorian.

Volato describes itself as a technology company focused on software and data solutions for business decisions, with its Parslee Document Intelligence platform designed to enhance large language models.
