Visa completes hundreds of AI-powered transactions with partners

Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) announced that hundreds of secure, agent-initiated transactions have been completed in collaboration with partners across the commerce ecosystem. The company stated this development signals AI agent-driven payments are transitioning from experimentation toward mainstream adoption.

According to new Visa research, 47% of U.S. shoppers now use AI tools for at least one shopping task, including price comparisons and personalized recommendations. The company predicts millions of consumers will use AI agents to complete purchases by the 2026 holiday season.

Visa is working with more than 100 partners globally, with over 30 partners actively building within the Visa Intelligent Commerce (VIC) sandbox and over 20 agents integrating directly with the platform. Current U.S. pilots include partnerships with Skyfire, Nekuda, PayOS and Ramp for various consumer and business-to-business purchasing applications.

"This holiday season marks the end of an era. In 2026, AI agents won't just assist your shopping—they will complete your purchases," said Rubail Birwadker, SVP, Head of Growth Products & Partnerships at Visa.

The company has expanded its Intelligent Commerce framework globally, with pilot programs anticipated to begin in Asia Pacific and Europe in early 2026. In Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, Visa is preparing for AI-driven purchase capabilities at regional merchants.

In October, Visa and more than 10 partners introduced the Trusted Agent Protocol, an open framework designed to help merchants distinguish between malicious bots and legitimate AI agents. Akamai recently joined as a supporter of the protocol, integrating its behavioral intelligence and bot protection capabilities.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
