Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday there will be no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender, almost a week after the start of coordinated U.S. and Israeli military operations against the country.

Trump made the statement on Truth Social, adding that after Iran's surrender and selection of new leadership, the U.S. and its allies will work to rebuild the country economically.

The U.S. and Israel began joint attacks on various sites and cities in Iran on February 28, in what the Trump administration has called a major combat operation.

The operation included strikes in Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah. The attacks resulted in the assassination of Iran's Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Oil prices have risen sharply since the operation began.

Trump added that Iran will have a great future after new leadership is selected, using his signature slogan "Make Iran Great Again."
