Sunoco LP (NYSE: SUN) will return to INDYCAR as the primary sponsor of Chip Ganassi Racing's No. 8 Honda driven by Kyffin Simpson beginning in 2026, the companies announced Thursday.
The multi-year agreement marks Sunoco's first full-season primary partnership in INDYCAR since 1973. The fuel distributor previously served as INDYCAR's primary fuel supplier from 2010-2018 and supplied fuel to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 2015-2018.
Simpson, 21, completed two full INDYCAR seasons and achieved his first career podium in 2025 along with three top-5 finishes and six top-10s. The Caymanian driver also reached the Firestone Fast Six for the first time in 2025.
Chip Ganassi Racing completed one of its most successful seasons in 2025, combining for nine wins, six poles and 17 podiums across its three-car lineup featuring Simpson, Scott Dixon and Alex Palou. The team won both the Indianapolis 500 and the INDYCAR championship.
Sunoco will maintain a presence across all Chip Ganassi Racing INDYCAR entries for all 17 races. The partnership allows Sunoco to promote its 94 Octane fuel product, which the company describes as the highest-octane fuel available on the market.
"Sunoco has long been synonymous with performance and innovation, values that mirror the DNA of our team," said Chip Ganassi, team owner. "To join forces with such an iconic brand and one with a storied legacy in INDYCAR is truly special."
Sunoco operates across 32 countries and territories in North America, the Greater Caribbean and Europe. The company distributes over 15 billion gallons annually to approximately 11,000 retail locations and supplies fuel to more than 500 tracks and over 50 racing series nationwide.
