Sunday Lake Gold appoints Michael Westendorf to its board
Sunday Lake Gold Corp. (TSX: SNDY, OTCQX: WLBMD) has appointed Michael Westendorf to its board of directors, effective immediately, according to a press release from the Toronto-based company.
Westendorf was nominated by Waratah Capital Advisors Ltd. under an investor rights agreement announced on May 20, 2026. He will also serve on the board's Technical and Health, Safety and Environment Committee.
Westendorf currently serves as chief operating officer of Lithium Ionic Corp., where he has been involved in advancing the Bandeira Lithium Project in Minas Gerais, Brazil. He also serves as metallurgical advisor to Kodiak Copper Corp.
Previously, Westendorf held senior positions at Copper Mountain Mining Corporation, including director of operational excellence, director of metallurgy, and mill manager. In those roles, he oversaw a 40,000-tonne-per-day copper processing operation and led development work at the Eva Copper Project in Queensland, Australia.
Westendorf holds a bachelor of applied science in metals and materials engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a registered professional engineer with over 20 years of experience in mining operations, metallurgy, and project development.
Janet Wilkinson, chairperson of Sunday Lake Gold, said Westendorf's experience across the mining lifecycle "will be particularly valuable as we advance the Fenelon Gold Project toward the completion of a pre-feasibility study."
Sunday Lake Gold holds a contiguous mineral property position totaling 598 km² along the Detour-Fenelon gold trend in Quebec's Abitibi region, including the Fenelon Gold Project and the Martiniere Gold Project.
