Square expands Thrive partnership for multi-channel inventory sync

Square announced an expanded partnership with Thrive to enable retailers to synchronize inventory and product catalogs between their Square point-of-sale systems and Shopify e-commerce platforms.

The integration allows retailers to create and edit products within Square, with updates automatically reflected on Shopify. Square serves as the primary system for inventory management, enabling real-time stock level adjustments between both platforms to prevent overselling.

According to the company, 50% of Square retail sellers operate across multiple channels. The integration addresses inventory management challenges for businesses running both physical stores and online operations.

"Sellers today increasingly operate across channels, but keeping them in sync shouldn't multiply their workload," said Morgan Kuntze, Global Partnerships Lead at Block, Square's parent company.

The system provides unified catalog management, bi-directional inventory updates, and centralized reporting through Square. The integration supports businesses operating single Shopify storefronts with one or multiple Square locations.

Bach Le, CEO of Thrive, stated the integration "stops costly stockouts and overselling" by automating real-time updates between the platforms.

The Thrive integration is available to Square sellers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and Spain. Thrive also offers integrations for Square users operating WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Meta, and Google shopping platforms.

Square, owned by Block Inc. (NYSE: SQ), operates a business platform serving millions of sellers globally. Thrive, founded in 2013 and based in Denver, provides inventory management solutions for small businesses.
