SpyGlass Pharma names Elizabeth O'Farrell to board of directors

SpyGlass Pharma appointed Elizabeth O'Farrell to its board of directors as an independent director and chair of the audit committee, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
O'Farrell brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic planning, financial optimization, regulatory compliance and management. She spent the majority of her career at Eli Lilly, holding executive positions including general auditor, CFO of Lilly USA, and senior vice president of policy and finance. Before retiring from Eli Lilly in 2017, she served as chief procurement officer and head of global shared services.
"Liz's established track record in large, commercial healthcare organizations with deep experience in global finance and operations will be instrumental as we continue to advance our SpyGlass Drug Delivery Platform into two pivotal Phase 3 trials this year," said Patrick Mooney, chief executive officer of SpyGlass Pharma.
O'Farrell currently serves on the boards of Karius Inc., Lensar Inc. (NASDAQ: LNSR), and Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN), where she chairs the board. She also serves on the board of Genmab Corporation (NASDAQ: GMAB). She earned an MBA in management information systems and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Indiana University Bloomington.
The privately held ophthalmic biotechnology company is developing a drug delivery platform designed to deliver up to three years of bimatoprost to targeted tissues for glaucoma treatment. The company plans to initiate two Phase 3 trials for patients with moderate open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
SpyGlass Pharma completed enrollment in a Phase I/II study in the United States and plans to work with the FDA to advance the program through Phase III clinical trials.
