SoundHound AI Inc. (NASDAQ: SOUN) announced a partnership with OpenTable to launch an in-vehicle voice AI system that allows drivers to make restaurant reservations through voice commands.
The system integrates with car infotainment systems and connects users to OpenTable's network of over 60,000 restaurants worldwide. Drivers can find restaurants, check availability, and complete bookings hands-free using natural voice commands while driving.
The voice AI agent handles the entire reservation process through conversation, from restaurant recommendations to booking confirmation. The system checks real-time availability and sends confirmation details to users' email addresses.
"This collaboration marks another milestone in our mission to bring voice-enabled transactions into the vehicle," said Michael Zagorsek, COO of SoundHound AI. "Integrating OpenTable into our voice commerce platform broadly expands the ways drivers can plan their dining experiences, making them effortless, intuitive, and hands-free."
SoundHound introduced its voice commerce platform at CES 2025 with in-vehicle food ordering capabilities. The OpenTable integration expands the platform to include restaurant reservations alongside existing takeout ordering features.
The partnership will be demonstrated at SoundHound's CES 2026 booth in Las Vegas. The company plans to expand voice commerce capabilities to additional services including parking, ticket purchases, and appointment scheduling.
OpenTable, owned by Booking Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG), serves more than 60,000 restaurants globally and processes 1.9 billion restaurant bookings annually. SoundHound's conversational AI technology is currently deployed in millions of cars and devices worldwide.
