Smartkem hires Anthony Amato as strategic advisor
Smartkem (NASDAQ: SMTK) announced it has engaged Anthony Amato and his firm Bridge Associates International Pharmaceutical Consulting to support strategic initiatives as part of the company's growth plans.
Amato brings experience from the life sciences and technology sectors. He founded Bridge Associates International Pharmaceutical Consulting, which provides advisory services in corporate governance, compliance, and business development. Amato previously served as Chief Executive Officer of BioSig Technologies Inc. (BSGM), a Nasdaq-listed company that completed a transaction with Streamex Exchange Corporation. He continues to serve on BioSig's board of directors.
Through his consulting firm, Amato will provide non-exclusive advice to Smartkem's leadership team on evaluating and executing strategic opportunities and industry partnerships, according to the press release.
"Anthony brings a proven track record of delivering value through strategic business development, and his expertise will be invaluable as we pursue opportunities to expand Smartkem's market position," said Ian Jenks, Chairman and CEO of Smartkem.
Smartkem develops transistor technology using proprietary semiconductor materials. The company's TRUFLEX semiconductor polymers enable low-temperature printing processes for displays and can be used in MicroLED, LCD and AMOLED technologies, as well as computer chip packaging, sensors, and logic applications.
The Manchester, England-based company operates research facilities in the UK and a field application office in Taiwan. Smartkem holds 140 granted patents across 17 patent families, 14 pending patents and 40 trade secrets.
On August 28, Smartkem announced its board authorized management to consider and pursue strategic alternatives involving the company.
