San Juan Regional adopts Oracle Health tools to improve bed management

San Juan Regional Medical Center, a nonprofit healthcare system based in Farmington, New Mexico, has implemented several Oracle Health (NYSE: ORCL) solutions to improve patient flow and bed management, according to a press release from Oracle.

The organization deployed Oracle Health Command Center Dashboard, Oracle Health Patient Flow, and Oracle Health Transfer Center. Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), supported the implementation alongside Oracle Health.

San Juan Regional serves patients across the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. The health system had previously used Oracle Health clinical and revenue cycle solutions.

One month after the systems went live, the organization reported a 38.9% decrease in bed-assignment time, from 54 minutes to 33 minutes. Environmental services response time fell 48.5%, from 49.67 minutes to 25.56 minutes. Environmental services clean-completion time improved 1.2%.

"Working collaboratively with Oracle Health and Optum, the new solutions now equip our clinical and operational teams with a more connected view of operations that helps us enhance coordination, improve discharge readiness, and turn beds over quicker to prepare for new patients," said Carlo Hallak, MD, physician informatics executive at San Juan Regional Medical Center.

Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, said the implementation connects clinical operations solutions with San Juan Regional's existing Oracle Health environment to improve patient flow and care team coordination.
