S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced a partnership to integrate IBM's watsonx Orchestrate agentic framework into S&P Global's offerings, beginning with supply chain management solutions.
The collaboration will provide S&P Global clients with AI-powered tools designed to enhance supply chain visibility and vendor selection capabilities. The solution combines AI agents with data across procurement, trade, country and supplier risk domains, according to the companies' joint statement.
S&P Global will develop new agents for IBM's watsonx Orchestrate Agent Catalog using its proprietary data, research and analytics. The partnership extends beyond supply chain applications, with plans to integrate IBM AI technology into additional risk intelligence services within S&P Global's Market Intelligence division.
"By integrating IBM's innovative AI capabilities with S&P Global's distinctive data and analytics offerings, we are creating an exciting combination that is set to advance actionable insights and streamline workflows," said Saugata Saha, President of S&P Global Market Intelligence and Chief Enterprise Data Officer of S&P Global.
Rob Thomas, Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Vice President of IBM, stated that the collaboration will expand to use agentic AI for other business functions including finance, procurement and insurance.
IBM's watsonx Orchestrate serves as a platform to coordinate AI agents, assistants and workflows across businesses. IBM introduced its Agent Catalog in May, which currently features more than 500 pre-built agents and tools.
The supply chain offering forms part of S&P Global's Market Intelligence division's Risk & Valuation Services portfolio. S&P Global operates Kensho as its AI innovation hub for developing enterprise AI agents.
