Power Metallic appoints former Canadian energy minister to board
Power Metallic Mines Inc. (TSXV: PNPN) announced the appointment of Seamus O'Regan to its board of directors. O'Regan served as Canada's Minister of Energy & Natural Resources and held several other federal ministerial positions.
O'Regan was elected Member of Parliament for St. John's South-Mount Pearl in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 and 2021. As Energy & Natural Resources Minister, he oversaw Canada's first Critical Minerals Plan, the Critical Minerals List, the National Hydrogen Plan, and the Small Modular Reactor Action Plan. He also served as Minister of Indigenous Services, Labour, Seniors, Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.
The former minister joined Stewart McKelvey, Atlantic Canada's largest law firm, as Senior Business Advisor in March 2025. He holds a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge with a focus on Indigenous participation in large-scale natural resource development.
Power Metallic CEO Terry Lynch stated that O'Regan's experience in government affairs will help guide the company's Nisk polymetallic discovery at Nemaska, Quebec through exploration to development. O'Regan commented that Canada is positioned to lead in critical mineral developments given its mineral wealth and expertise.
The company is conducting a 100,000 meter drill program with four rigs currently operating and a fifth expected in early September. Initial results from the summer campaign are expected shortly, with additional results every 2-4 weeks through year-end.
Power Metallic granted 1,150,000 incentive stock options at $1.45 per share to O'Regan and certain company officers, exercisable for up to five years from the grant date.
The Toronto-based exploration company focuses on advancing the Nisk Project Area, a high-grade copper-platinum group elements, nickel, gold and silver system in Quebec.
