Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) announced the Philips Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, an electric toothbrush featuring on-device artificial intelligence and real-time spatial guidance, set to be available on Amazon in September 2026.
The device uses the brand's third-generation AI and machine learning model to provide brushing feedback through a light ring on the handle. A 12-segment mouth map on the toothbrush's display identifies missed areas during brushing. The toothbrush also includes smart pressure sensors that automatically adjust intensity when excessive pressure is detected.
According to the company, the toothbrush removes up to 2,000% more plaque compared to a manual toothbrush, and delivers 1,500% healthier gums in Clean mode versus manual brushing after six weeks, based on internal testing.
The device offers eight brushing modes, three intensity levels, and comes in three colors: Silver White, Satin Mauve, and Quartz Black. It includes a rechargeable travel case and a charging glass. Philips states the toothbrush features a newly designed battery encapsulation for repairability and comes in paper-based packaging. Compatible brush heads are made with 70% bio-based plastic on a mass balance basis.
The 9900 Prestige is part of Philips Sonicare's broader Next-Generation DiamondClean 8000–9000 range. Earlier in 2026, Philips Sonicare introduced its 5000–7000 Series electric toothbrush range, which introduced an updated motor described as quieter than prior models. The same drivetrain is used in the 9900 Prestige.
"With our Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, we fundamentally reimagined the brushing experience by combining advanced sensing, real-time guidance and AI-powered personalization directly within the toothbrush itself," said Francesco Grillo, Philips Global Business Unit Leader for Oral Healthcare.
Royal Philips, headquartered in the Netherlands, reported approximately €18 billion in sales for 2025 and employs approximately 64,300 people across more than 100 countries.
