Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) and Google announced that Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) will be made available through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), according to a press release issued at the Oracle AI World event in Las Vegas on Oct. 27, 2026.
The companies claim this marks the first time Google TPUs will be offered on a hyperscale cloud platform outside of Google. Availability is expected to begin in calendar year 2027, ramping over a multi-year period.
Google's eighth-generation TPU includes two architectures: TPU 8t, designed for training workloads, and TPU 8i, designed for inference. The company states TPU 8t delivers nearly three times the compute performance per pod compared to the previous generation. OCI will provide power, cooling, and datacenter networking to support TPU deployments at scale.
"Bringing Google TPUs to OCI gives customers access to multiple leading AI compute architectures in one cloud," said Mahesh Thiagarajan, president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. "That choice gives them the flexibility to choose the right infrastructure for the performance, throughput, and economics of each AI workload."
Amin Vahdat, senior vice president and chief technologist for AI and Infrastructure at Google, said bringing TPUs to OCI would give more organizations access to the technology and greater flexibility in building and running complex AI applications.
The TPUs are described as supporting large-model training, post-training, and production inference for reasoning, agentic, and long-context applications.
