Opal adds agent-powered workflows to automate complex tasks

February 24, 2026 2:16 PM UTC

Opal introduced an agent step feature that converts static workflows into interactive experiences. The new functionality allows the agent to determine optimal tools and models based on user objectives rather than requiring manual configuration.

The agent step proactively selects appropriate resources such as Web Search for research or Veo for video generation. Users can now choose an agent in the generate step instead of manually selecting specific models.

The update transforms previous rigid workflow formats into dynamic processes. A Visual Storyteller application can now autonomously determine required details and suggest plot points, while an Interior Design tool provides iterative feedback capabilities rather than simple one-way processing.

The agent step includes three new capabilities: memory functionality that retains user information across sessions, dynamic routing that follows multiple workflow paths based on custom logic, and interactive chat that allows agents to request additional information from users.

The memory feature stores user preferences and data, enabling personalized experiences without repeated input. Dynamic routing automatically transitions between workflow steps when specified conditions are met. Interactive chat functionality permits agents to gather missing information or present choices before proceeding.

Opal maintains existing fixed-step options for users requiring precise control or rigid logic structures. The platform combines automated agent functionality with customizable step-by-step workflows.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
