Omnicom Group Inc. (NYSE: OMC) and The Interpublic Group of Companies Inc. (NYSE: IPG) announced the European Commission granted antitrust approval for Omnicom's acquisition of IPG. The approval represents the final regulatory clearance required to complete the transaction.
The companies stated they expect to close the transaction by Wednesday. The acquisition will combine two major marketing and communications services companies, with Omnicom serving over 5,000 clients in more than 70 countries and IPG operating global brands including McCann, FCB, and Weber Shandwick.
Omnicom provides data-inspired marketing and sales solutions through its agency brands, offering services in advertising, strategic media planning, precision marketing, retail and digital commerce, branding, and public relations. IPG describes itself as a values-based, data-fueled provider of marketing solutions with communications specialists across various brands.
The information is based on a company press release statement. The companies included standard forward-looking statement disclaimers noting various risks that could affect the merger's completion and integration, including potential loss of management personnel, client relationships, and business disruptions.
