Nokia and Microsoft expand partnership for AI-driven network automation

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is extending its partnership with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) to develop an agentic, unified data foundation aimed at accelerating network automation for telecommunication providers, according to a company statement.

The collaboration integrates Nokia Data Suite with Microsoft Fabric's analytics and AI platform. Nokia claims the combination will allow telecom operators to access network data in minutes rather than weeks, reducing the time required for data preparation and integration.

Nokia Data Suite provides prebuilt telco data products with semantic modeling and data quality controls. Microsoft Fabric contributes OneLake storage, analytics tools, and AI applications including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Foundry, and Power BI.

"Telecom providers are ready to move AI from experimentation into everyday network operations, but that requires trusted data, strong governance and platforms that can scale," said Silvia Candiani, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Telco & Media at Microsoft.

The solution is available now and is designed for multi-vendor, cross-domain telecom environments, supporting hybrid, cloud, and on-premises deployments. Initial use cases include autonomous voice-over-new-radio service assurance, geographic radio access network performance analysis, and predictive maintenance and fault management.

The companies said the solution supports closed-loop operations and automated root-cause analysis while maintaining human oversight within defined governance boundaries. The partnership builds on existing collaboration in cloud, data, AI, and cybersecurity.
