NetEase appoints Johnny Chan as independent board director
NetEase Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES, HKEX: 9999) announced the appointment of Kok Chung Johnny Chan as an independent director to its board of directors, effective August 14, 2025.
Chan brings over 40 years of experience in investment banking and investment management. He currently serves as Chief Investment Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company and holds positions on the Market Misconduct Tribunal and Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal under Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Ordinance. Chan previously served as deputy chairman of the Listing Committee of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Chan also serves as an independent non-executive director of CNQC International Holdings Ltd. (HKEX: 1240) and Hangzhou SF Intra-city Industrial Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 9699). He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from City of London Polytechnic, an MBA from City University London, and a postgraduate diploma from the Securities Institute of Australia.

NetEase operates as an internet and game services provider, developing mobile and PC games in China and globally. The company also owns majority stakes in Youdao (NYSE: DAO), an intelligent learning and advertising solutions provider, and NetEase Cloud Music (HKEX: 9899), an online music platform.
