Business travel platform Navan announced the appointment of Anré Williams to its board of directors, effective immediately. Williams previously served as Chief Executive Officer of American Express National Bank and Group President of Enterprise Services at American Express, bringing over 35 years of executive leadership experience to the role.

Williams currently serves as Senior Executive Advisor at American Express. During his tenure at the financial services company, he led initiatives that expanded card acceptance among small businesses and strengthened corporate partnerships. He also oversaw the company's consumer travel operations and digital platform strategies.

"Anré's proven leadership across fintech, enterprise technology, and travel uniquely positions him to help drive Navan's commitment to revolutionize business travel and expense management," said Ariel Cohen, Co-Founder and CEO of Navan.

Williams previously served as an independent director at Illinois Tool Works Inc. (NYSE: ITW) from 2010 to 2023, and at Ryerson Holding Corp. (NYSE: RYI) from 2004 to 2007.

The appointment comes as Navan has made recent announcements regarding AI technology developments. The company recently unveiled Navan Cognition, an AI platform that supports its customer service assistant called Ava, and launched the Navan Business Travel Index, which provides data on corporate travel behaviors and spending patterns.

Williams joins a board that includes representatives from venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz, Zeev Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, along with Navan's co-founders Ariel Cohen and Ilan Twig.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
