NFI Group Inc. (TSX: NFI) officially opened its new Customer Acceptance and Delivery facility in Winnipeg, marking the first complete domestic production of heavy-duty transit vehicles in Canada in 15 years.

The facility enables NFI's subsidiary New Flyer to manufacture buses entirely in Canada for Canadian customers. Construction began in late 2024, with the first buses entering production in September 2025. The company delivered its first all-Canadian build to Durham Transit in December 2025.

The new facility expands New Flyer's production capacity by up to 240 equivalent units per year by 2027, with four line entries expected per week. The expansion received federal and provincial government investment alongside NFI's internal funding.

"This is a major milestone for our company, the province and the country as it creates hundreds of highly skilled jobs and a stronger domestic supply chain, alongside enhanced zero-emission production capabilities," said John Sapp, NFI's president and chief executive officer.

Industry Minister Mélanie Joly attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew and other government officials. The facility produces zero-emission buses and supports Canada's transition to clean transportation.

NFI manufactures buses and coaches under brands including New Flyer, MCI, Alexander Dennis Limited, Plaxton, and ARBOC. The company operates in ten countries with nearly 9,000 employees and supports over 100,000 buses and coaches worldwide.

The Winnipeg facility allows NFI's U.S. operations to focus on American customers while strengthening the company's Canadian manufacturing capabilities. NFI's shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
